Worcester — India’s Under‑19 team delivered a commanding performance in the fourth Youth ODI of their five-match series against England U19, securing a 55-run victory and taking an unassailable 3–1 lead. Batting first at New Road, Worcester, the visitors posted a mammoth total of 363 for 9, before bowling out the hosts for 308 in 45.3 overs.
India's innings was powered by stellar centuries from openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vihaan Malhotra. Suryavanshi dazzled with a breathtaking 143 off just 78 balls, smashing 13 fours and 10 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 183.33. Malhotra complemented him perfectly with a composed 129 off 121 deliveries, including 15 boundaries and 3 sixes. Their 219-run partnership laid a rock-solid foundation for India’s imposing total.
Despite England’s bowlers regaining some control in the latter stages of the innings, with Jack Home taking 4 for 63 and Sebastian Morgan chipping in with 3 for 54, the damage had already been done.
In response, England began well. Openers Ben Dawkins and Joseph Moores put on a 104-run stand, scoring 67 and 52 respectively. However, India’s bowlers struck back decisively. Left-arm spinner Naman Pushpak led the charge with figures of 3 for 63, supported ably by RS Ambrish (2 for 55) and Deepesh Devendran (1 for 65).
The standout for England was Rocky Flintoff, who played a lone hand with a valiant 107 off 91 balls. The middle and lower order, however, failed to provide the necessary support, and England’s chase fizzled out under scoreboard pressure.
India’s fielding and bowling discipline stood out, with two well-executed run-outs and tight fielding throughout the innings. This performance underscores the team’s all-round capabilities and depth in both batting and bowling departments.
Having secured the series with a game to spare, India will look to cap off their successful tour with a win in the fifth and final Youth ODI on July 7 at the same venue. For England, it will be a matter of salvaging pride and ending the series on a high note. Both teams will play 2 (4 day) test matches after the white ball leg starting from Jul 12th.
With standout individual performances and team dominance, India U19 have once again showcased why they remain a powerhouse in youth cricket.
