Bristol – India Women continued their impressive run on the England tour, defeating the hosts by 24 runs in the second T20I at the County Ground, Bristol. With this win, India now lead the five-match series 2–0 and are in a strong position heading into the third game.
Strong Batting Foundation
India posted a competitive total of 181 for 4 in their 20 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues led the way with a composed 63 off 41 balls, while Amanjot Kaur remained unbeaten on 63 from 40 deliveries. The duo's smart running between the wickets and timely boundaries kept the scoreboard ticking throughout the innings.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the middle order for stepping up at the right time. She highlighted how Rodrigues and Amanjot balanced aggression with strike rotation to keep pressure on the bowlers.
England's Response Falls Short
England Women had a rocky start to their chase, losing three quick wickets and finding themselves at 31 for 3 within the powerplay. Tammy Beaumont tried to steady the innings with a fighting 54, and Amy Jones added 32 during a 70-run stand. However, the momentum slipped as wickets kept falling at crucial moments.
England’s chase was derailed early with the loss of three quick wickets, and they never truly recovered. They eventually finished at 157 for 7, falling 24 runs short.
Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt acknowledged the team's failure to build enough partnerships despite a decent bowling effort and a strong middle-order fightback.
